2014 Union Picnic

Saturday was a beautiful day for our picnic. It was nice to see everyone turn out to enjoy it.  It’s funny, in talking to a number of retirees, one thing seemed consistent; they don’t know where they ever had the time to go to work. They all sound like they’re enjoying their retirement as well they should. Our former President Howard Edwards was there as usual. It’s incredible, that man never changes. Good for him.

It was nice to see our 2nd District Congressman Joe Courtney stop by for some chowder.  Joe has been good for Labor in CT, especially at Electric Boat where he has helped save some programs.  Linda Orange, the Deputy Speaker of the House also stopped by. Linda represents the 48th district and with her was Emily Bjornberg who is running against Art Linares for a State Senate seat in the lower CT River Valley area. Emily is a great candidate that would represent us well. Anyone interested in helping her campaign can contact our Registrar Brian Coggshall or call the hall.

All in all it was a good day.  Thanks to President Larry Polaske, Vice President Roger Cohen, Recording Secretary Paul Gagnon and member Awesome Aimee Riley for helping to keep things running smoothly throughout the day.
