Welcome to IBEW Local 457

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 457 was chartered in 1972. We represent approximately 1200 working men and women in CT. Our workforce is on the properties of Connecticut Light and Power, GDF Suez, Norwich Public Utilities, NRG Generation, Wallingford Public Utilities and Yankee Gas Services Company.

Our mission is to protect the rights and safety of all our workers throughout the various contracts and work locations. To that end we administer and negotiate 15 different contracts. Our office is in Berlin, CT, where we have of staff of four working full-time; a Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager, Senior Administrator and Class A Administrator. Electric Power Technology Program at CL&P- 14 vacancies


CL&P has partnered with Northwestern CT Community College, Manchester Community College and Middlesex Community College to offer a new electric power pathway. Completion of the Electric Power Technology Program earns students an associate degree in Technology Studies and prepares qualified candidates for a career as an electric power utility line mechanic or cable splicer.

Blue Book & Green Book Benefits Info

Blue Book and Green Book members- New medical benefits start Sunday, February 17th. You have until February 20th to sign up. (The company will start your benefits retroactively to February 17th if you sign up late due to the blizzard.)

IBEW Founders' Scholarship


The IBEW Founders’ Scholarship award is for $200 per semester credit hour at any accredited college or university toward an associate’s, bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in a field that will further the electrical industry overall.  The maximum distribution is $24,000 per person over a period not to exceed eight years.   IBEW Members who have been in continuous good standing for four years preceding May 1st of the scholarship year in which they plan to apply are eligible for the scholarship.

Blue Book and Green Book Vote Results

The ballots have been counted and the results are in. Both Blue Book and Green Book contracts were narrowly accepted.

Blue Book/ Green Book Contract Negotiations Update 12/20/12

We have been negotiating the Blue Book and Green Book contracts since April and after having an October contract offer rejected, here we are in December with no agreement. While a number of issues have been resolved since the October contract offer, a few remain. We have been in contact with Senior Management in an attempt to get a tentative agreement before the holidays. We understand these are trying times, especially considering the tragedy that occurred in our State last week.
