The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 457 was chartered in 1972. We represent approximately 1200 working men and women in CT. Our workforce is on the properties of Connecticut Light and Power, GDF Suez, Norwich Public Utilities, NRG Generation, Wallingford Public Utilities and Yankee Gas Services Company.

Our mission is to protect the rights and safety of all our workers throughout the various contracts and work locations. To that end we administer and negotiate 15 different contracts. Our office is in Berlin, CT, where we have of staff of four working full-time; a Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager, Senior Administrator and Class A Administrator. Update on Blue/ Green Combo & Taking Trouble Work Back

For those of you that have been attending the CL&P Unit meetings you are aware that we are trying to reach an agreement with the Company to get our people back in the trouble trucks.  To date the Company has only been willing to start this in a few districts and we feel that it would be unfair to exclude one for another.  Our commitment is to do it in all districts.

Troubleshooter Arbitration Update

Troubleshooter Arbitration Update: We have just found out through our Attorney that the next Troubleshooter arbitration hearing has been cancelled due to a health issue with the Arbitrator.  We still have two date in December.


A Message from John and Keith

           As everyone is painfully aware, the past 18 months have been full of change all across CL&P.  It has been a trying time at best and here we sit 9 months away from the expiration of the Blue and Green contracts.  At the end of the last Blue and Green negotiations we said we would start negotiations 6 months early going forward, which we have done with other contracts as well.  We have had discussions with 420 and the Company about combining the contracts, starting negotiations even earlier as well as how to resolve the Troubleshooter issue.  We have had a number of Officers in

Rally in Wethersfield, CT to support AFSCMEand A&R members who are facing reductions in the CT Dept of Labor. Great show of support today for the battle they are in. SOLIDARITY.

CT Trees of Honor Fundraiser

Members of IBEW Local 457 have volunteered to help provide power to CT Trees of Honor in Middletown and now we are partnering with Up In Smoke by having a “cigarbeque” to raise money.  

Show your support for Connecticut Trees of Honor in Middletown by attending the event! 

The cigarbeque will be held on Saturday, August 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Up In Smoke Cigars in Cromwell. Tickets are $40 each.  Call the Union office if you would like to purchase tickets.
