Welcome to IBEW Local 457

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 457 was chartered in 1972. We represent approximately 1200 working men and women in CT. Our workforce is on the properties of Connecticut Light and Power, GDF Suez, Norwich Public Utilities, NRG Generation, Wallingford Public Utilities and Yankee Gas Services Company.

Our mission is to protect the rights and safety of all our workers throughout the various contracts and work locations. To that end we administer and negotiate 15 different contracts. Our office is in Berlin, CT, where we have of staff of four working full-time; a Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager, Senior Administrator and Class A Administrator. The office is open Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily for lunch.  Read More

Workers Memorial Day 2014

Workers Memorial Day is Monday, April 28th.  The Connecticut AFL-CIO will host a Workers Memorial Day Ceremony at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 28th on the North Steps of the Capitol.  After the ceremony at the Capitol, we march to the Workers Memorial in Bushnell Park (next to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument) to lay wreathes and to read aloud the names of workers who passed away on the job.  IBEW Local 457 has been participating in this event for many years.

CL&P Signs Agreement with Contractors

We have just gotten word that the Company has signed an agreement with the contractors. We don't have any details at this moment. More info to follow.

PURA Allows CL&P and Yankee Gas to Close Facilities

The Public Utility Regulatory Authourity (PURA) voted unanimously this morning on the building closures issue. They bought the company BS and are allowing CL&P and Yankee Gas to close their facilities.

CL&P Update 3/7/2014

CL&P Update for March 7, 2014:

No real news to report. We’ve heard the rumors about Asplundh and the cost associated with using them. The Company is still holding to their position, which would violate our contracts. Our position remains the same; honor and respect our contracts.

CL&P Union Meeting Cancelled & Update

The CL&P Union meeting for Thursday, February 13th is cancelled due to the impending snow storm.

2014 Penguin Plunge

Thank you to the following members and their family for plunging into the icy waters at Hammonassett Beach to raise money for Special Olympics CT: team captain Anthony Riley, Jr. (son of member Aimee Riley), Paul Gagnon, Rich Buchetto and his sons Victor and Austin, and Ray Whitehead and his daughter Olivia. The team raised over $1,000. Thank you so much to all who supported this great cause!
