John Fernandes' Letter to Tom May

Attached below is a two-page letter John Fernandes wrote to Tom May on behalf of the members of IBEW 457.

An Update From John Fernandes

We heard today through some ABA’s in the field that management held meetings yesterday where they now have some dates for Asplundh contractors to starting doing emergency work. At today’s Green Book safety meeting we asked for some details and their reply was that they wouldn’t have any information for us until next week. It’s incredible that they sent management to the districts to stir the pot yet provide us with no information.

Workers Memorial Day 2014

Workers Memorial Day is Monday, April 28th.  The Connecticut AFL-CIO will host a Workers Memorial Day Ceremony at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 28th on the North Steps of the Capitol.  After the ceremony at the Capitol, we march to the Workers Memorial in Bushnell Park (next to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument) to lay wreathes and to read aloud the names of workers who passed away on the job.  IBEW Local 457 has been participating in this event for many years.

CL&P Update 3/7/2014

CL&P Update for March 7, 2014:

No real news to report. We’ve heard the rumors about Asplundh and the cost associated with using them. The Company is still holding to their position, which would violate our contracts. Our position remains the same; honor and respect our contracts.
